A Peter Bogdanovich podcast dedicated to filmmakers and their legacy will be released two years after his death.
Each episode pays homage to a director and offers insight and perspective on the influence and impact the legends who came before them had on their career and filmmaking, according to Deadline.
At the time of his death, Bogdanovich was working on One Handshake Away, a podcast series that saw him in conversation with directors Guillermo del Toro, Quentin Tarantino, Rian Johnson and Ken Burns and framed through a series of rare archival interviews with Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, John Ford and others.
Bogdanovich discussed Hitchcock with del Toro, Don Siegel with Tarantino, Welles with Johnson and Ford with Burns. Del Toro completed the series talking with Greta Gerwig about Howard Hawks, Julie Delpy about Fritz Lang and Allison Anders about Raoul Walsh.
The Audacy series also features narration from actress-producer Louise Stratten, who is also Bogdanovich’s ex-wife. Bogdanovich wanted to call the series One Handshake Away because he believed that through him the contemporary directors were one handshake away from the pioneers.
Bogdanovich, who co-authored This is Orson Welles and co-starred in The Other Side of the Wind, passed away on January 6, 2022 at the age of 82. The Last Picture Show and What’s Up Doc? filmmaker worked to complete The Other Side of the Wind following Welles’ death in 1985.
