
Shout! Factory has acquired Westchester Films, a distribution company founded by Julian Schlossberg and Mark Balsam, which holds the rights to Orson Welles’ Othello, Alfred Hitchcock’s Foreign Correspondent, John Ford’s Stagecoach and many other classic films.
Schlossberg has been overseeing an upcoming Blu-ray release of Othello for the Welles’ estate.
Westchester will operate as a subsidiary of Shout! Factory, which has digital broadband, pay TV, video-on-demand, satellite and broadcast networks.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Westchester’s library of more than 400 films include Merchant Ivory’s A Room With a View, The Marx Brothers’ A Night in Casablanca , The Stunt Man with Peter O’Toole, Bruce Beresford’s Breaker Morant and eight Godzilla films.
