‘The Other Side of the Wind’ campaign hits Cannes Film Festival

Cannes_2015The drive to complete The Other Side of the Wind made its way to the Cannes Film Festival this weekend.

Social media, overseas newspapers and international wire services reported TOSOTW  representatives were looking for support as they raise the $2 million necessary to complete Orson Welles’ last film.

Rochard Botto of the social network Stage 32 tweeted on Sunday: “Just met a couple of the cool peeps behind bringing Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind to @Indiegogo – Love the ambition #cannes.”

Welesnet friend Marco Pierrard penned a piece for the French magazine Cita Zine. And Thomas Adamson of the Associated Press’ Paris bureau conducted an interview TOSOTW co-producer Filip Jan Rymaza.

Rymsza, one of the few people to see the pristine, unedited negative, lauded the uncompleted film.

“This is so exciting for the world. It will absolutely become a classic film,” Rymsza said. “Every film is a masterpiece in its own right. But this film is really ahead of its time.”

Of the ongoing  Indiegogo drive, Rymsza said, “We thought crowdfunding would be an excellent way to raise the funds for the editing and finishing the film. And it’s in keeping with Orson as he was someone who always believed in innovative approaches.”
