Wellesnet veteran Roger Ryan alerted us to the online posting of the 66-minute work print and a 30-minute edit of the existing footage. The work print can be viewed here and the edit of the extant footage into a more watchable short here.
In addition, the foundation has made the footage available for download on their website as mpeg files. The website also boasts detailed film notes on the history and restoration of Too Much Johnson.
The silent “Too Much Johnson” footage was intended for use in a 1938 stage production by the Mercury Theatre.
Believed lost for decades, it was discovered in an Italian warehouse and restored by George Eastman Co. The footage was first shown in Italy and the United States in October 2013.
Welles scholar Joseph McBride wrote about the footage for Bright Lights and Michael Miller has provided a detailed look at its recovery for Wellesnet.
