'The War of the Worlds: Myth or Legend?' on BBC Radio 4

The BBC are also joining in the WOTW anniversary celebrations with an hour-long documentary airing October 26th, hosted by Sir Christopher Frayling, whose contributions to the Blu-ray releases of La Belle et la Bete and Sergio Leone's Man With No Name series I've very much enjoyed.

Should be available to hear online for a week after broadcast as usual, so listen in if you can before November 2nd!

Sister station Radio 4 Extra are following up the next day with their first broadcast of the Mercury Theatre of the Air episode. In fact I wonder whether this has ever aired in full on the BBC before? I don't recall seeing it listed in the 15 years that I've been keeping an eye out for that kind of thing. Prior to the 1990s, bought-in archive programming would have been as rare as Martian droppings. The defunct commercial station Oneword did run commercially available audio dramas and readings for a decade in the early years of digital broadcasting, but I'm not sure if even they extended to OTR. Anyhow, here's that page:
