Peter Bogdanovich's first film, made for Roger Corman's studio. The film's drive-in climax was a possible influence on the drive-in climax of Welles's The Other Side of the Wind.

As others have noted, like Welles's films, it contains a subject matter still sadly relevant today. This may be his best film. I will not say his "Citizen Kane" since subsequent films were more successful but I also have a special fondness for SAINT JACK.

I think it's his best film too, or at least my favorite. I look forward to seeing it Criterionized.

I also think it is his best film with SAINT JACK running a close second.
