Relating to the Von Stroheim/Kane thread and the idea of the doomed film, here's a more recent film maudit: Richard Williams' Arabian Nights fantasy THE THIEF AND THE COBBLER, in it's workprint form, before it was bought by another studio and sliced and diced into an ALADDIN ripoff called ARABIAN NIGHT:

How have I never heard of this one before? Talk about troubled production history.

Now in his 80s, Richard Williams is plotting a new feature. Here's hoping he doesn't go the full Erich von Stroheim route as he did last time, though it looks as though that's his intent.
