Just found a web-site which reviews a lot of cinema stuff- in this review, the Welles material reviewed is Walsh, Naremore and the IAT DVD; here's a little entertaining sample:

"What's refreshing about Walsh's book is that he likes Welles and disparages Hearst, unlike most other bios of the men, which either evince impatience with Welles or hagiograph Hearst. For Walsh, Hearst was "one of the world's wiliest scoundrels." And that's one of the nicer things he says about the media mogul. It's refreshing to read a book about Welles in which the author actually likes the director."

and here's the url:

a silly title for a site, but fair, irreverent and lively writing, in my opinion.

I didn't get the impression that Walsh liked Welles so much as he clearly hated Hearst. It was a refreshing point of view, even if it wasn't really backed up by hard evidence.
