Orson Welles Archives

Post by MortSahlFan »

For those who have the time/energy/etc., if you write to Universities and other institutions with archives, you can get a lot of stuff that isn't on YouTube, etc... A lot of it is free, and usually they just have you make a username, fill out a form or two, and those that have charged were under $50.

Here's a few sites.

Thanks for the links. I've tried Robert Aldrich who worked at R.K.O during the filming of CITIZEN KANE and used two of its actors in KISS ME DEADLY. Unfortunately, no online access is given, and I've always wanted to see the A.I. Bezzerides screenplay of KISS ME DEADLY which I think is at the Margaret Herrick Library but unavailable for copying the last time I tried. Don't have the funds to visit unfortunately. As I've written elsewhere, KMD's visual style is also indebted to KANE.

In case some users think they can't retrieve archives they find at Universities they did not attend, if you ask (nicely), most will take the time to make them available for download or viewing for a while.

Thank you. This will depend on whether the item is for viewing on the premises only or available in the way you suggest. I will give it another try.
