Thanks for the tip, Jeff. Sounds like an interesting program, hope I don't forget to tape it. 1968 broadcast?!? I've never even heard of that.

Yeah, in 1968 a Buffalo station, I think it was, did a localized version of the broadcast and had a similar effect to Welles' but on a local scale. That WotW hardback book that came out a couple or so years ago had an excerpt from it on the CD that came with the book.

LOL, Store Hadji. The year 1968 does make you wonder. Maybe they'd just got out of a screening of 2001 when they heard the broadcast.

That reminds me of a great story I saw on the Internet not long ago. Some guy was home on 2-week leave from the Army around 1976. He got high and also dropped some acid with two hot-looking girls, then they went to see THE OMEN (another apocalyptic story). They thought the combination of drugs and a good horror flick would get them revved up for a nice threeway after the show. But under the influence of the drugs, they were so freaked out by the film, that not only was the threeway ruined, but they threw out the rest of their stash and all tearfully vowed never to get high again!

Speaking of "The Omen", Liev Schrieber, the guy that played Orson Welles in "RKO 281", is starring in a remake of it, with Julia Stiles, Mia Farrow, and David Thewlis. It's set to be released, naturally, on June 6th (6-6-06).

Mia Farrow as Mrs. Baylock? That sounds almost TOO perfect. Incidentally, I seem to remember reading in a Welles book that Billie Whitelaw, the actress who played Mrs. Baylock in the first OMEN, was the voice of Raina in MR. ARKADIN. I've always wondered how Paola Mori felt about her new hubby steamrolling her voice with another actress. Unless he told her up front that that was part of the plan.

BTW Jeff, was that WOTW special actually on the Discovery Channel on the day you mentioned? I looked for it in the TV Guide but I didn't see it listed. If it was on, did anybody get a chance to see it. If so, how was it? If anybody got a recording of it, maybe we can set up a trade.

I never knew nor even noticed that Raina's voice was dubbed. At least if Orson had dubbed it himself I would have caught it!
