Video and Film links of interest

Post by Narshty »

I'm probably one of very few people to own a copy of the hour-long documentary that was destined for the Touch of Evil DVD, but was pulled at the last moment.

It's a good quality recording from BBC2 late one night (there are no adverts), and is split into two halves - the first details the making of the film and the second details the reconstruction, with comparisons and specific examples of the re-edits.

It's very much in line with Laurent Bouzereau's other retrospective documentaries - fairly bland technically and structurally, but very interesting nonetheless.

I'm afraid I can't make any copies as I only have one VCR, but if anyone who can transfer PAL VHS material and has the webspace wants to stick it up on the web, they're welcome to it.

Jaime-I think I have an EP tape of CONTEMPT from IFC from a year or two ago. If you cannot find a better one, I can run off a SP copy for you.

hi, I just discovered this site.

I'm looking for good first generation tapes or dvds of rare Welles titles like his 5 minute description of his KING LEAR project, his FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH or scences of THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND which are not the known three clips from the AFI ceremony. And I'm looking for a tape or cd of his radio show MOBY DICK.
In exchange I could offer a good tape of a rarity like ONE MAN BAND (original German version), PORTRAIT OF GINA, the restored MAGIC SHOW, the restored ORSON WELLES' LONDON - or something else you're looking for.

Welcome to the board. I can offer you the Moby Dick radio show. Email me privately and we can discuss it further if you're interested.

I am interested in obtaining either a video or DVD of Welles' "Filming Othello." Does anyone have a copy (or a copy of a copy) to sell?

Hello. Anybody got Fountain of Youth, the 99-minute Arkadin, or anything else rare they'd like to trade? I can offer a mint copy of Don Quixote, The AFI thing, Treasure Island (with O. W. Jeeves,) One Man Band, Filming Othello, Confidential Report, Immortal Story, widescreen Falstaff, original version of Othello and more radio shows than can easily be assimilated by the brain. Lemme, know?

Back when Universal was working on a Special Edition of Touch of Evil, before Beatrice got her hands in the mix, there was supposed to be a commentary track on it with Charlton Heaston and others in addition to the new documentary filmed for it. Now i know the documentary is available around the net, but i was wondering if anyone had a copy of the Commentary track in any form: transcript, cassette, CD, mp3, etc. And if anyone does, would they be willing to trade for a copy of it.

I don't think anyone has heard it, outside of the people who produced the DVD. All I ever heard was that Heston may have made derogatory comments about Beatrice, so they left it off. Doesn't seem to be any other reason to drop it, really, but if that was the case, why they didn't just edit out Heston's comments is a mystery. Or perhaps it was simply a lousy commentary, and they chose not to use it. Regardless, we'll likely never hear it. If anyone else has further info, please share...
