The Pickwick Papers

Post by Wellesnet »

Based on Charles Dickens' first novel, published in 1836
One of the last of the Mercury Theater on the Air shows, before it became The Campbell Playhouse. Broadcast on November 20, 1938.
Welles considered it as a follow up to Citizen Kane, and wanted John Barrymore and WC Fields to co-star.

Great book. Didn't want it to end. Would have been a great film; but then we might not have Ambersons.
